idalab is looking for an experienced senior marketing and communications professional to lead its marketing and communication efforts. You will develop and own idalab’s marketing and communications strategy and drive its thought leadership platform through content creation, distribution, and measurement.

idalab is an independent boutique consultancy for artificial intelligence based in Berlin, Germany. We enable life science and health care companies to achieve breakthrough business progress by connecting our deep understanding of AI technologies with strategic business contexts.


  • Establish marketing, brand and communication strategy that will raise idalab’s profile, deliver new business leads and help us to engage better with C & B level clients.
  • Implement marketing and communication plans while upholding high quality standards.
  • Tell idalab’s stories in intellectual and creative ways and bring the brand to life for our executive audiences.
  • Create engaging thought leadership content (blogs, interviews, articles, videos, etc.) and oversee the work of a senior content writer and other freelance content creators.
  • Ensure content is distributed and promoted to drive maximum impact with the target audience.
  • Seek new ways of discovering audience insights to drive engagement.
  • Build a journalist network - across mainstream national business press, and related trade press
  • Provide expert strategic and tactical marketing and communications advice to leadership and key internal stakeholders.
  • Design, manage, and report on KPIs
  • Oversee marketing budget.


  • Marketer: 6-8 years of experience in marketing, brand, communications and content-focused roles. Experience in the professional services (e.g. management consultancy), VCs or tech industry is preferred but not mandatory. 
  • Storyteller: demonstrated ability to craft a compelling narrative for C & B level executives. The ability to simplify complex information from multiple sources into clear, compelling and impactful stories, frameworks and narratives.
  • Doer: self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who takes ownership of his or her work and a track record of executing and iterating quickly as a small team or as a team-of-one
  • Collaborator: experience working with cross-functional teams, leadership, clients, media and other stakeholders.
  • Results-Tracker: history of designing, tracking and measuring results of marketing and communication strategies.
  • Communicator: ability to simplify complex ideas to communicate an authentic message. Outstanding written and verbal communications skills in English and German.
  • Multi-tasker: strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task projects and deliverables.
  • Empathetic: The ability to work empathetically, putting yourself in someone else's shoes and seeing the world through their eyes and creating content they want to read.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or related field (Master's degree, a plus).
  • An established journalist network is a plus.
